Mission – Oman

May 5, 2010 by David Trounce Leave a Comment

Oman
Oman occupies a strategic position on the edge of the Gulf.
The Albusaidi family have ruled Oman since 1749, the current Sultan Qaboos seized power from his father in 1970.
The state religion is Ibadi Islam. Although telling Muslims about Jesus is strictly forbidden Christians from other countries are allowed to meet togther to worship. The Sultan is strictly opposed to any rise in extreme fanatical Islam.
Challenges for Prayer
Oman has changed rapidly since the new Sultan took power in 1970 – pray that as people adapt to new ideas and change they would be open to spiritual change as well.
Nearly all Christians in Oman are from other countries. In particular there are active churches that are seeing more and more Asians being saved. Pray the Christians in Oman would be witness to Jesus love and life in all they do.
